Clients, quotes, figures, people and awards on this build are invented for review. Nothing here is real yet.

Since 2012, the same people.

We started in identity and print, and we sold our own products alongside client work. We added websites, then stores, then search and paid media, and most recently the automation work. The tools have changed several times. The discipline has not.

How we got here
  1. 2012

    Making things

Identity, invitations, stationery and framed print work, alongside our own product lines. We were selling as well as designing, which is a fast way to learn what a customer actually responds to.

  2. 2017

    Into digital

Websites and online stores, then logo design, PPC management and SEO as full service lines. Clients ranged from founders with nothing but a name to companies with a hundred products to shift.

  3. 2021

    Regroup

We took on too much of the wrong work, and the studio spent a year doing projects it was not proud of. We stopped, cut the service list back to what we were actually good at, and rebuilt around it.

  4. 2026

    AI enabled, not AI led

Automation and AI content systems added to the marketing practice, in the places where they earn their keep. We turn down more of this work than we take.

The team

A small team, and largely the same one throughout. You will work with the people who do the work.

Shane Powell

Founder since 2012

Started Three18 selling its own products and designing other people’s. Still does both. Handles positioning and anything where the answer is unpopular.

Nadia Whitlock

Design Director since 2017

Identity and packaging. Came from a print background, which is why our artwork arrives at the right specification the first time.

Tom Beresford

Technical Director since 2018

Builds the stores and the systems behind them. Has opinions about checkout flows and can evidence all of them.

Amara Sesay

Head of Marketing since 2021

Search and paid media. Reports on gross profit rather than revenue, which makes the first month of any account uncomfortable.
